Iran thanks Indian citizens, political groups and civil society for messages and gatherings held during the recent Israel conflict.

The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday issued a statement thanking Indian citizens and institutions for what it described as expressions of solidarity during the recent 12-day war between Iran and Israel.
In its message, the embassy acknowledged support from a wide range of individuals and groups, including political parties, MPs, NGOs, religious leaders, academics, journalists and civil society members, who, according to the statement, stood “vocally and firmly" with Iran as it faced military strikes by the United States and Israel.
“The solidarity expressed through public statements, peace gatherings and other platforms was a source of encouragement," the embassy said, framing the gestures as a stand for international law and justice.
The war, which began on June 13 and ended in a ceasefire on June 24, saw Israel launch strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing top officials including Revolutionary Guards chief Hossein Salami.
Iran said over 600 civilians were also killed. In response, Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israeli cities left at least 28 people dead, according to official figures.
Calling its military response a defence of sovereignty and national dignity, Iran’s statement reiterated its position on resisting “aggressive and expansionist policies" and urged nations to come together against what it sees as violations of global legal norms.
It added that the long-standing ties between the people of India and Iran provided a foundation for “continued cooperation and mutual understanding" in regional affairs.
“We express our sincere appreciation for the genuine and invaluable support shown by the people and institutions of the great nation of India. Undoubtedly, this solidarity rooted in the longstanding cultural, civilizational, and human ties between our two nations peace, stability, and global justice will further strengthen the cause of peace, stability, and global justice," the embassy said.
It ended its statement with the slogan “Jai Iran – Jai Hind".
