Supreme Petrochem Ltd halted Manali Chennai unit operations due to flooding from heavy rains and reservoir discharge. Q2 FY26 net profit rose 63 percent but revenue fell 55 percent.
Supreme Petrochem Ltd has temporarily halted operations at its Manali, Chennai manufacturing unit after heavy rains and water discharged from nearby reservoirs caused flooding inside the facility, the company said in an exchange filing on December 5.
According to the filing, continuous rainfall in the region and the release of water into the canal running adjacent to the plant led to water entering the company’s premises, resulting in significant flooding. This forced Supreme Petrochem to suspend manufacturing activities at the unit until further notice.
The company added that it is closely monitoring the situation and working to restore normal operations once conditions stabilise and the premises become safe for resumption of work. Further updates will be communicated as the situation evolves, it said.
The petrochemicals company reported a net profit of ₹148 crore for Q2 FY26, up 63% year-on-year from ₹91 crore. However, revenue for the quarter declined 55% to ₹1,117 crore compared with ₹2,519 crore in the same period last year.
Supreme Petrochem’s EBITDA stood at ₹78.7 crore, down 59.6% from ₹194 crore in Q2 FY25. EBITDA margin was at 7%, slightly lower than 7.7% in the year-ago period. The company had declared an interim dividend of ₹2.50/equity share, equivalent to 2.125% of its paid-up equity capital, for FY25-26.
