Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone attended a glittering gala hosted by US President-elect Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Thursday, as the latter unveiled a flurry of his latest cabinet appointees including Robert F Kennedy Jr, Doug Burgum and Tulsi Gabbard.

Before Trump nominated North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum as his nominee for Interior Secretary, Stallone introduced the Republican President-elect on stage, calling him the “second George Washington" of the United States.

“This individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody could’ve pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe. When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world. ‘Cause without him, you could imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We got the second George Washington," Stallone said, describing Trump as a “mythical character".

Stallone drew parallels with the opening frame of his first ‘Rocky’ movie, which pans out from a picture of Jesus into Rocky being hit, saying, “At that moment, he was a chosen person and that’s how I began the journey — something was gonna happen, this man was gonna go through a metamorphosis and change lives, just like President Trump."

While Stallone has supported both Republican and Democratic politicians, like Joe Biden, he did not vote for either of them during the 2016 and 2020 elections. However, he revealed in 2016 that he was a Trump fan and saw him as a “great Dickensian character", according to USA Today.

The star-studded Mar-a-Lago event featured well-known Trump supporters and politicians who were announced as members of Trump’s new administration. “We’re going to work on Middle East and we’re going to work very hard on Russia and Ukraine. It’s got to stop. Russia and Ukraine’s got to stop," he said at the event.

At one point, Trump made a light-hearted remark towards Elon Musk, saying he “can’t get him out of here" and that the billionaire “likes his place". Musk, who was one of Trump’s most influential advisers during the presidential campaign, has become a prominent figure in the president-elect’s circle and has been appointed to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency.
