Errol Musk, father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, has openly advised the Britishers to “ignore" his son’s comments, after the latter dived into the UK politics through social media fiat.

“Just don’t listen to him, that’s all. I’d say don’t worry about it. Tell him to get lost," Errol said in an interview to LBC news.

The senior Musk further came down on his son over his foray into British political discourse.

“People don’t have to listen to what he says. I mean he’s just a person. The fact that he has money or something, he’s a billionaire or something to that effect—I mean, hundreds of thousands of people are tweeting the same things or saying the same things as he is," he added.

What Did Elon Musk Claim?

Tesla CEO and US’ DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) head Elon Musk recently took on UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the “Pakistani grooming gangs", who have sexually abused thousands of young girls over the years. Musk accused Starmer of being “deeply complicit in the mass rapes" in order to win votes.

In his X posts, Musk accused Starmer — previously head of the country’s prosecution service — and other Labour politicians of complicity in the scandal between 2008 and 2013. It involved the long-term, widespread sexual abuse of primarily white British girls by men of mostly South Asian origin in various northern English towns, including Rochdale, Rotherham and Oldham.

“Starmer must go and he must face charges for his complicity in the worst mass crime in the history of Britain… “So many people at all levels of power in the UK need to be in prison for this," Musk said.

Musk also directed harsh comments at UK safeguarding minister Jess Phillips, referring to her as a “rape genocide apologist" and accusing her of failing to address issues related to child abuse cases.

The X owner and some opposition UK politicians are now demanding a new inquiry into the grooming gangs, despite a broader years-long national probe into child sexual exploitation concluding in 2022.

Starmer Hits Back

In response, Starmer defended his stance emphasised on safeguarding the victims and dismissed the Tesla founder’s comments. “Those who are spreading lies and misinformation as far and as wide as possible are not interested in victims, they’re interested in themselves," Starmer told the reporters, without naming Musk.

Starmer warned of the dangerous consequences of such rhetoric, which has reportedly led to threats against public figures. “We have seen this playbook many times — whipping up of intimidation and of threats of violence, hoping that the media will amplify it . . . When the poison of the far right leads to serious threats to Jess Phillips and others, then in my book a line has been crossed," he said in a statement.

Musk’s involvement in UK politics has drawn massive attention, including a poll on X asking whether Americans should “liberate" the British from their “tyrannical government."

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron had also voiced concerns about Musk’s increasing interference in European politics.
