A leaked audio recording of an expletive-laden conversation promising violence, from a decade ago has laid bare the chilling grip of Nemesio Ruben Oseguera, aka ‘El Mencho, over local law enforcement in Mexico.
El Mencho, who was captured and killed in a military operation on February 22, was the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
This purported audio clip from 2016, which could not be independently verified by News18, has resurfaced following El Mencho’s death, capturing a moment of raw intimidation where he is heard forcing a high-ranking police officer into total submission. It reveals a furious Nemesio Oseguera demanding that security forces “relax" and withdraw from their positions immediately.
“Look here you son of a b****, it’s Mencho you d******. You better tell your f****** people to leave us alone… Get your f****** men to fall back or I’m going to f*** you up and your whole squad. I have 30 of you f****** located and identified. I’ll even kill your f****** dogs if you don’t chill out bro. What do you think about that?" Oseguera is purportedly heard saying in the clip, which went viral on social media.

Here’s a transcript of the purported conversation:
El Mencho: Delta 1?
Police: Yo, who’s speaking?
El Mencho: Look here you son of a b****, it’s Mencho you d******. You better tell your f****** people to leave us alone. It’s Mencho, you d******.
Police: What?
El Mencho: Get your f****** men to fall back or I’m going to f*** you up and your whole squad. I have 30 of you f****** located and identified. I’ll even kill your f****** dogs if you don’t chill out bro. What do you think about that?
Police: You got it, sir. I’ll tell the police squads to fall back.
El Mencho: No, no. You better not hang up m***********. I’ve got your location right now d******.
Police: No, sir. I am not hanging up. I was just saying I’ll let them know.
El Mencho: Get your s*** together d******. Didn’t you guys agree to work with us f*****? We agreed not to f*** with you guys and in turn you want to f*** with us?
Police: No sir, I’ll tell them to back off.
El Mencho: Look, tell your sons of b****** to fall back because all of you happily accept my money you p***.
Police: Yes, sir. They’re telling me right now.
El Mencho: Get your s*** together or you’ll be the first one I’ll make an example of.
Police: No, sir. We won’t have any more problems.
El Mencho: Watch yourself or I’ll spill blood at a moment’s notice, you already know what’s up.
Police: No, sir there’s no problem.
El Mencho: So if you guys want us to be friendly, then you be friendly. If not, then go f*** yourselves.
Police: No sir, I know.
El Mencho: I’m so f****** fed up that you guys can’t understand instructions.
Police: Sir, you know me. You know I’m on your side.
El Mencho: Well, that’s why I’m so surprised you f*****! I understand you got people and family to take care of but get your f****** s*** together.
Police: No, I know sir.
El Mencho: I don’t want you to turn off your f****** phone. I’ll call you again real soon to find out if you guys chilled the f*** out. Got it?
Police: No, right now I’m going to call…
El Mencho: That goes for all of you. Everybody in general bro. Tell everyone to chill the f*** out. Please.
Police: Yeah for sure. And I’ll call you back on this number.
El Mencho: No, no. Don’t call this number back. I’ll call back when I can.
Police: You got it.
El Mencho: But don’t turn off your phone or I’ll interpret that as disrespect.
Police: No sir, right now I’ll let them know with a different device.
El Mencho: Alright, well that’s what I hope. That you guys leave us the f*** alone.
Police: Yes sir, you know me. All I have is respect for you.
El Mencho: Same for all you guys, and I apologise for the foul language.
Police: I got the crew here. I’ll send them your regards.
El Mencho: Alright then. Tell them to fall back and that it’s an order from me.
Police: Yes, boss.
El Mencho: We’re done then.
His threats are not merely verbal abuse but specific promises of extreme violence. It reveals deep-seated corruption within the ranks, as he reminds the police officer that they had an established agreement to cooperate.
“Because all of you happily accept my money," he is heard saying. “So if you guys want us to be friendly, then you be friendly. I’m so f****** fed up that you guys can’t understand instructions."
Oseguera is even heard telling the officer to tell his crew that the withdrawal is “an order from me". The response from the officer is one of instant compliance rather than resistance and, throughout the exchange, he addresses the cartel leader as “sir" and “boss", offering reassurances that his troops will not interfere.
“You got it, sir. I’ll tell them to fall back," the officer is heard saying, adding, “all I have is respect for you."
In the end, the cartel leader even apologises to the cop for his “foul language" and tells him to wait for his call.
