A clip of BJP minister Kailash Vijayvargiya sharing a light moment with his former political rival, Sanjay Shukla, at an event has gone viral on social media.

The video recorded during Shukla’s induction into the BJP, Vijayvargiya jokes about the past when Shukla, previously associated with the Congress, used to criticise him verbally. Shukla has now joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

During the induction event, Vijayvargiya’s welcoming words were caught on video as he humorously remarked, “Teri gaali suni ab tereko lena pad raha hai (We had to take your abuses and now we have to take you to the party).” This light-hearted comment triggered laughter among the crowd as Vijayvargiya offered a BJP scarf to Shukla.

On Saturday in Bhopal, several Congress leaders, including former Indore-1 MLA Shukla, joined the BJP under the leadership of former Union minister Suresh Pachouri.

In the November 2023 elections, Shukla contested as the Congress candidate against Vijayvargiya, who currently serves as a cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh, for the Indore-1 seat. Despite a tough competition, Vijayvargiya secured victory with a margin of over 57,000 votes

Shukla’s father, late Vishnu Shukla, was a prominent BJP leader in Indore. However, Sanjay Shukla chose to align with the Congress and emerged victorious in the 2018 assembly elections.
