Huawei has timed its big launch event close to Apple's event

Huawei could become one of the first to have a tri-fold device available in the market and we will be getting more details about it soon.

Huawei is planning to steal Apple’s iPhone 16 thunder this week. The company has lined up its first tri-fold phone that opens three ways which could be the next iteration of foldable devices in the market. The brand is hosting its big event in China on September 10, just 24 hours before Apple hosts its big Glowtime event in California on Monday.

The most exciting part about Huawei’s launch is that the tri-fold device could be market-ready and we might see it in flesh, not the concept version with sales to start in select regions soon.

The event invite teases the tri-fold device with two hinges on the opposites and there is very little to talk about the new foldable avatar that is likely to become mainstream over the next 12 months. The company has kept the leaks on the down-low but rumours claim the device will have a Z-type fold. Huawei Chief has been spotted using the unreleased phone earlier, and he had claimed the product will be launching in September which will come true in a week’s time.

The device is expected to feature a 10-inch display, something that we have recently seen with the Tecno Concept tri-fold product. Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2 is the successor to the Tecno Phantom Ultimate, a rollable smartphone prototype that the company debuted at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona earlier this year.

Although its new concept device folds up into the size of a little candy bar, Phantom Ultimate 2 opens up to reveal a large 10-inch interior display that can easily rival a full-sized tablet. The Ultimate 2 is 11 mm thin, maintaining a thickness comparable to other book-style folding smartphones in the market including the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (10.5 mm), despite having an additional foldable screen.
