Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has written an open letter to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging India to deepen engagement with what he described as the “Republic of Balochistan" and warning of growing threats from the Pakistan–China axis. The letter, dated January 1, was shared publicly on X, where Mir Yar Baloch also tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking New Delhi’s attention and support.
In the letter, the Baloch representative congratulated the people of India on the New Year and praised the Modi government’s security posture, including what he described as decisive action against Pakistan-backed terrorism during last year’s Operation Sindoor – a retaliatory counterterrorism exercise targeting terrorist training camps inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for the Pahalgam massacre in April 2025.
The letter also underscored what Mir Yar Baloch described as deep civilisational links between India and Balochistan, pointing to the Hinglaj Mata Temple (also known as Nani Mandir) in the Hingol Park as a shared sacred site. He cited the temple as a living symbol of historical, cultural, and spiritual connections between the two regions, arguing that these ties strengthen the case for closer engagement beyond immediate security concerns.
A significant portion of the letter focused on the Pakistan–China strategic alliance, which Mir Yar Baloch termed a grave and imminent danger. He warned that the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had entered its “final phases" and claimed that China could deploy military forces in Balochistan if local resistance continued to be ignored. Such a development, he argued, would pose a direct security challenge not only to Balochistan but also to India.
The appeal comes amid continued unrest in and around Balochistan, where Baloch rights activists have long accused Pakistan of enforced disappearances, military crackdowns, and systematic human rights violations. Over the years, clashes between Pakistani security forces and Baloch separatist groups have intensified, with attacks on infrastructure projects and Chinese-linked assets becoming more frequent.
