Tradition, toros and triumph as Pentecost Feria begins in Nimes

The cobbled streets of Nimes are alive with music, dance, and the centuries-old ritual of bullfighting as the Pentecost Feria returns. Held annually on the fifth weekend after Easter, the fair draws thousands to the southern French city for a celebration of culture, faith, and spectacle. At the centre of it all is tauromachie—an enduring tradition that continues to evoke both admiration and debate. From colourful parades to dramatic passes in the arena, the Feria remains one of France's most iconic cultural events.
