US President Donald Trump hinted at a new deal with Iran, despite denying negotiations earlier.

US President Donald Trump declared that a new deal with Iran could be imminent- just a day after he denied any negotiations were taking place. “I think we are going to have a deal [with Iran] next week," Donald Trump said, in a statement that came less than 24 hours after a fiery Truth Social post by the US President in which he insisted, “We’re not speaking to Iran. We’re not offering them anything."
The contradictory statements came amid swirling speculation over the state of US-Iran relations following this month’s coordinated US-Israeli airstrikes on Tehran’s nuclear sites. Donald Trump reiterated that those strikes had “totally OBLITERATED" Iran’s nuclear facilities, doubling down in a Fox News interview as he asserted, “They questioned whether the sites were ‘obliterated’ or just terrible, and it turned out they were in fact obliterated… the bombs penetrated like absolute butter."
Independent satellite imagery and Israeli intelligence leaks backed Donald Trump’s claims of major damage at Fordow and other nuclear sites. Earlier, Donald Trump also shut down reports suggesting his administration had offered Iran a $30 billion civilian nuclear aid package. “Hoax," he wrote bluntly.
What Iran Said On Talks With US?
Iran said earlier that it needs stronger assurances before reengaging in talks as the country’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made it clear that Tehran will not rush back to the table. The strikes were carried out just as preliminary discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme were underway, he said, adding, “In order for us to decide to reengage, we would have to first ensure that America will not revert back to targeting us in a military attack during the negotiations."
Abbas Araghchi noted that while diplomacy remains an option, Iran is in no hurry to restart talks, saying, “I think with all these considerations, we still need more time," he said. “The doors of diplomacy will never slam shut."
