Indian-origin Kash Patel, a loyalist of US President Donald Trump, has been confirmed as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, after winning the Senate vote 51-49. Trump's assistant and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino went all Bollywood to congratulate Patel for getting the top job. Taking to X, Scavino shared a dance clip from the hit song 'Malhari' from Bajirao Mastani featuring Ranveer Singh. The number that saw Singh putting up a stunning performance was, however, edited with Patel's face superimposed onto that of the actor.
"Congratulations to the new Director of the FBI, Kash Patel," the tweet read.
The 47-second clip had received 2.6 million views at the time of writing this report.
During the voting, the Republican-controlled US Senate saw two of them, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, joining all Democrats in opposing Kash Patel's confirmation. They expressed concern about Patel's past political advocacy for Trump and its potential impact on the FBI's law enforcement activities. However, it wasn't enough to keep the 43-year-old from becoming the first Indian-origin director of America's law enforcement agency.
