Trump unpopular, unlike Modi: Ian Bremmer says US President's actions can be undone

Geopolitical expert Ian Bremmer noted that, unlike India - where PM Modi has ruled for 10 years and counting due to his popularity - Trump's tenure is limited. On Venezuela, he warned that Trump's successor could undo much of what he has done, just as Trump did with his predecessor.

Following the US capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, geopolitical expert Ian Bremmer expressed skepticism about the long-term benefits for the White House, saying that short-term gains could be offset after Donald Trump leaves office in 2029.

He noted that, unlike India - where Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in power for over 10 years due to his popularity- Trump’s tenure at the Oval Office is limited.

Speaking exclusively to India Today TV, Bremmer pointed out that Trump’s successor may undo much of what he has done, just as Trump did with his predecessor.

Unlike China, Russia, and India, Bremmer observed that regular changes in leadership every four years create discontinuity in government measures in the US, which takes time to yield results.

"Well, the next president can rip up a lot of what Trump does. This isn’t Xi Jinping. It’s not even Modi, who has now run the country for over 10 years in India and enjoys strong popularity in a democracy. This is Trump, who’s quite unpopular, 80 years old, and will be out in three years," he told India Today TV.
