A video of former President of the United States, Barack Obama, is going viral on the internet with a claim of fraud in his birth certificate. It features Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who can be seen addressing a press conference. On February 19, 2025, a video was posted by a user, Jack Straw (@JackStr42679640X), on X. It appeared with the caption: "Barack (O'Banana) Obama. Wow, the fact they are reporting this is unreal. Obama's fraudulent birth certificate is being exposed to the world."

Marjorie Taylor Greene, United States Representative, added fuel to the fire. She reshared the post with the caption, "Oohhh this is great!!"

The footage posted on X shows the Fox 10 News Channel logo.

The video went viral on X and gained over 7 million views after being posted on February 20. The viral claim caught people off guard, and the internet quickly flooded with reactions.

Here's how netizens reacted:

So are you saying we never had the first black president ðŸä” — IronMonkey (@jcpstudio) February 20, 2025

He should be thrown in jail for fraud and treason and all actions taken from his fraudulent presidency undone and memory of him erased from history immediately!!!! — Dyanna🌟Starr✝️🙏☮️MAGA (@DyannaStarr777) February 20, 2025

OK, LABAMBA MAKES ME VOMIT. WANNA MAKE THAT CLEAR.

BUT I WENT TO THE SAME HIGH SCHOOL HE WENT TO IN HONOLULU, AND I WORKED AT THE SAME HOSPITAL HE WAS BORN AT....KAPIOLANI CHILDRENS' HOSPITAL (it was called something a bit different back then). HE WAS BORN IN HAWAII. — Billie (@Bill93183173544) February 21, 2025

You are correct only one parent necessary to become a US citizen. But that child wouldn’t be a US natural born citizen. — They are all corrupt (@GOP_is_Gutless) February 20, 2025

So we can remove all documents of him, the library closed, portraits down, streets, renamed and no more security detail or salary. — De'Nice💋 (@moonstarlet711) February 20, 2025

What’s the truth?

Is this really true? No, that's not true. The posted footage of the press conference was held by the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona. It was hosted in 2016, not 2025, as is claimed by a post on social media. The press conference was documented by local media in 2016.

Meanwhile, the microblogging platform X also declined the claim by providing details in the "Reader's added context" section. It read, "Footage of the press conference held by the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, is from 2016, not 2025, as is implied by posts on social media. The press conference was documented by local media on December 15, 2016."

The press conference video was uploaded to the Fox 10 Phoenix YouTube channel on December 15, 2016. Joe Arpaio was the sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, from 1993 until he lost the 2016 election. He has not held any elected position since then.
