His statement came after PM Modi, during his inaugural speech at the WAVES 2025 summit, announced the rise of India’s ‘Orange Economy‘, which encompasses the creative sectors of music, films, food, gaming and animation.

Industries within this economy include advertising, architecture, arts and crafts, design, fashion, film, video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, research and development, software, computer games, electronic publishing, and TV/radio.

Last year, the prime minister had conferred the newly formed Creators Award to online content creators. The awardees included personal trainer-turned-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, who goes by BeerBiceps, and has partnered with the Digital India Corporation to interview a series of Cabinet Ministers; Abhi and Niyu, a married duo with more than five million YouTube subscribers; Keerthika Govindhasamy of the Instagram account Keerthi History; and Pankti Pandey, a former ISRO scientist who is now a sustainability influencer.
