US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor praised Mumbai after high-level meetings with Devendra Fadnavis, Sanjay Malhotra, Mukesh Ambani, N. Chandrasekaran and other leaders.

United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor praised Mumbai as he concluded what he described as a “very successful" visit to the city, marked by a series of high-level meetings with political, business and institutional leaders.
In a post on X, Gor said he held discussions with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, executives from India’s pharmaceutical sector, and religious faith leaders.
He said the meetings helped build strong momentum across trade, technology, education, energy and resilient supply chains, adding that the U.S.–India partnership continues to grow.

Earlier, Gor praised Mumbai as a city marked by energy, culture and striking sights. The remarks came a few days after he formally assumed charge as the 27th United States Ambassador to India on January 12.
In the post, Ambassador Gor spoke about Mumbai’s busy streets, historic landmarks such as the Gateway of India, and views of the Arabian Sea. The message expressed admiration for the city’s character and everyday life, while inviting people to experience the spirit of India’s financial capital. Mumbai, as a key hub for business, culture and diplomacy, often figures in outreach by foreign diplomats.

Before arriving in India, Gor served in senior roles in Washington. He previously worked as Assistant to the President and Director of Presidential Personnel at the White House, where he handled key responsibilities related to appointments and administration.
