US President Donald Trump has said America has enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world 150 times. His remarks followed his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize, despite lobbying and claiming he prevented eight wars. He defended US nuclear testing, alleging China, Russia, and Pakistan are secretly conducting similar tests.

US President Donald Trump, who until last month was actively lobbying for the Nobel Peace Prize and portraying himself as a "peace president", has now shifted his tone, declaring that America possesses "enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world 150 times".
His statement came weeks after he failed to win the coveted prize, despite claiming to have ended eight wars. In a CBS News interview, he defended his directive for the Pentagon to resume explosive nuclear tests, which had been halted for 33 years, citing alleged tests by Russia, China, North Korea, and Pakistan. Trump added that he does not want the US to be the only country refraining from nuclear testing.
His remarks followed claims of resolving multiple conflicts, including the India-Pakistan military standoff in May, and his expressed desire to mediate between warring nations to save innocent lives.
In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Norah O'Donnell at Mar-a-Lago, Trump asserted that while the US holds the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, military rivals like Russia and China are rapidly building up theirs.
"Well, we have more nuclear weapons than any other country. And I think we should do something about denuclearisation. And I did actually discuss that with both President Putin and President Xi. We have enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world 150 times. Russia has a lot of nuclear weapons, and China will have a lot. They have some," Trump Told CBS.
During the interview, he defended his order to carry out nuclear tests, citing global competitors and US safety Concerns.
"Because you have to see how they work. You know, you do have to, and the reason I'm saying, testing is that Russia announced that they were going to be doing a test. If you notice, North Korea's constantly testing. Other countries are testing. We're the only country that doesn't test, and... I don't want [US] to be the only country that doesn't test," he said.
"Russia is testing and China is testing, but they don't talk about it. You know, we are an open society. We are different. We talk about it... They don't have reporters that are going to be writing about it. Pakistan has been testing," Trump claimed.
"They (the countries with nuclear weapons) don't go and tell you about it... They test way underground where people don't know exactly what's happening with the test. You feel a little bit of a vibration," he added.
Trump last Thursday announced that the US would resume testing of nuclear weapons, ending a 33-year moratorium in place since 1992.
The decision has reignited fears about an escalating nuclear competition and reopened debates about deterrence, disarmament, and global security.
