The Dow futures are currently down 240 points, while those on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are down 35 and 130 points respectively. US President Donald Trump, over the weekend, announced that the European Union and Mexico, will both be subject to 30% tariffs in case better terms of a trade deal are not negotiated before August 1. In response, the European Union has put on hold a set of countermeasures for continuing negotiations, while Mexico has expressed confidence that they will not be subject to these tariffs as negotiations are already ongoing with the Trump administration. The USMCA-compliant goods will not be subject to additional tariffs. Benchmark indices on Wall Street fell on Friday, thereby registering a weekly loss after Trump sent more tariff letters to partner countries and clarity on others, including the European Union was lacking. The US Dollar index is back at the 98 mark, Brent crude is above $70, while the Gold prices are back near $3,400 an ounce. Watch this space for all the live updates.
