US Stock Market Live: Overnight, Wall Street indices surged after US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day 'pause' for over 75 countries, while raising tariffs on China to 125%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended over 2,900 points higher at 40,608.45, S&P 500 closed 9.5% up at 5,456.9 and the Nasdaq Composite ended 12%, or 1,957.06 points, higher at 17,124.97.
Trump cited China's 'lack of respect' for global markets for the 125% tariffs he levied on the country. Earlier in the day, China had responded to Trump's tariff hike by doubling it retaliatory duties. After Trump had raised his proposed tariffs on the country to 104%, China increased its planned levy on US imports to 84% from 34%.
