A video, shot from a departing plane at Reagan Airport, shows multiple helicopters flying dangerously close to aircraft. This comes in the wake of the helicopter-jet crash over the airport.

Hours after an American Airlines plane collided with a helicopter midair in Washington, a video, widely shared on social media, showed several other choppers flying dangerously close to an aircraft taking off from Reagan Airport.

The video was reportedly shot nearly six days back, by a passenger inside the plane which took off.

In the wee hours of Thursday, an American Airlines regional passenger jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter crashed into the frigid Potomac River after a midair collision near Reagan Washington Airport.

Though officials held a press briefing over the incident, they did not disclose the number of those killed in the crash.

However, unconfirmed media reports suggested as many as 18 bodies had been pulled out from the waters in the Potomac River.

American Airlines confirmed that 64 people were aboard the jet – 60 passengers and four crew members. Three soldiers were aboard the helicopter, which was on a training flight, Reuters quoted a US official as saying.

The midair collision occurred as the passenger jet en route from Wichita, Kansas was on approach to land at Reagan.

Radio communications between the air traffic control tower and the Black Hawk suggested that the helicopter crew were aware that the plane was in the vicinity.

As investigations into the incident were launched, US President Donald Trump appeared to blame on the helicopter crew and air traffic controllers in a post on Truth Social.
