VRL Logistics reported a 61% year-on-year rise in its first-quarter net profit and improved operating margin on Tuesday, August 4, while its board approved a share buyback of up to ₹280 crore.
The company posted a consolidated net profit of ₹81 crore for the June quarter, up 61% from ₹50 crore in the year-ago period. Its revenue rose 18.1% to ₹878.8 crore from ₹744.3 crore a year earlier.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 23.1% year-on-year to ₹186.6 crore from ₹151.6 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 21.2% from 20.4% in the corresponding quarter last year.
Separately, the board approved a buyback of up to 87.5 lakh fully paid-up equity shares, representing 5% of the company's paid-up equity share capital, through the tender offer route at a price of ₹320 per share.
The buyback, with an aggregate size of up to ₹280 crore, represents 24.51% of the company's paid-up equity capital and free reserves based on its audited financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2026, the company said in the filing.
Q4FY26 result
The company reported a net profit of ₹72 crore for Q4 FY26, down 3% from ₹74.3 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations increased 5.4% year-on-year to ₹853 crore from ₹809 crore.
At the operating level, EBITDA fell 5% to ₹177.2 crore from ₹187 crore in the year-ago quarter, while the EBITDA margin narrowed to 20.8% from 23%, indicating pressure on operating profitability.
During the quarter, the company also declared an interim dividend of ₹5 per equity share.
VRL Logistics is one of India's leading road transportation and logistics companies, offering goods transport, courier, and passenger travel services through an extensive nationwide network.
Shares of the company were trading 0.9% higher at ₹274.55 as of 1.56 pm on Tuesday. The stock has declined nearly 54% over the past one year.
