Not even the looming threat of a missile attack could stop a newlywed couple from celebrating their love in Jerusalem. Forced to take cover in a bomb shelter as Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles towards Israel, the newlyweds shared their first dance in the underground bunker.
Despite the chaos above ground, love and joy filled the cramped, dimly lit shelter where the couple swayed gently to music, surrounded by their wedding guests.
The touching moment, captured on video and shared on X, shows the couple, dressed in their wedding attire, holding each other close as they dance.
The bride, in a flowing white lace gown, was lovingly spun by her groom, while their guests recorded the moment on their cellphones.
The video was filmed in a bunker near the Notre Dam Hotel, one of Jerusalem's largest hotels, and was shared by Bible scholar and author Saul Sadka.
“Iran couldn’t stop the joy at this Jerusalem wedding even for a moment,” Sadka captioned the video.
Like hundreds of thousands of Israelis, the couple had been forced to seek shelter as missiles rained down on Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and other major cities.
The missile attack left two Israelis injured. In the West Bank, a Palestinian man was killed by debris from an intercepted missile.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation after Iran’s missiles attack.
"Iran made a big mistake - and it will pay for it," Netanyahu said. "The regime in Iran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies."
