US President-elect Donald Trump posted a spoof video of his viral conversation with predecessor Barack Obama at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter. The original exchange, which showed the two leaders chit-chatting with smiles on their faces, had sparked a social media storm.
While neither Trump nor Obama has disclosed what was said, the business magnate-turned-president took to social media to present his own interpretation of their banter. The parody video features AI-generated dialogue that mimics the voices of the two leaders.
In the spoof, the conversation turns to Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. The dubbed Obama appears to admit Harris had little chance against Trump.
"I knew you'd win," says the former President, to which a faux Trump responds, "Oh really? Come on, anyone could beat her."
The video then mocks outgoing President Joe Biden, with the fake Obama trashing the 82-year-old Democrat for his decision to run for a second term.
"He just didn't want to leave, I did what I could to help [Kamala], she was horrendous," the dubbed Obama says, eliciting a smirk from Trump.
The Republican uses the parody to land a jab at former presidential rival Hillary Clinton. "You know what I realized. Hillary still hates me so much," remarks fake Trump.
“She'll never forgive me," he adds as the clip cuts to Clinton, who appears stone-faced at the funeral.
The spoof then has the two presidents making plans to meet, with Trump proposing a round of golf at his Florida club.
The video concludes with a fictional exchange commenting on Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, as they enter the church.
"She won’t even look at me," the fake Obama quips.
Trump’s simulated response alleges Harris may have "fallen off the wagon," to which the former President adds, "She’s not really built for this amount of pressure."
Earlier, Trump had addressed the viral moment, stating he didn't realise how friendly the chat between him and Obama, long-time political rivals, appeared until afterward.
"I said, 'Boy, they look like two people that like each other.' And we probably do," Trump told NBC News at Mar-a-Lago in Florida following the funeral.
"We have a little different philosophies, right? But we probably do. I don’t know. We just got along. But I got along with just about everybody," he added.
The original video of Trump and Obama's conversation at Carter's state funeral on January 9 had gone massively viral, with many speculating about the content of their discussion.
