Shohini Sinha, an Indian-origin law enforcement official, has been appointed as the Assistant Director of the Victim Services Division at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). She previously served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Salt Lake City Field Office.
Sinha began her FBI career in 2001 as a special agent in the Milwaukee Field Office and focused on counterterrorism investigations. She also held temporary assignments at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, the FBI Legal Attach Office in London, and the Baghdad Operations Center.
In 2009, she was promoted to supervisory special agent and moved to the Counterterrorism Division in Washington, D.C., where she managed Canada-based extraterritorial investigations and coordinated with Canadian law enforcement agencies.
Sinha’s career continued to advance in 2012 when she became the assistant legal attach in Ottawa, working alongside the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service on counterterrorism efforts.
She was promoted to field supervisor in the Detroit Field Office in 2015, where she led teams investigating international terrorism.
Sinha’s expertise in counter-terrorism
In 2020, Sinha was transferred to the Cyber Intrusion squad, tackling national security and cybercriminal threats. Later that year, she was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of national security and criminal matters at the Portland Field Office.
Sinha’s Career
In 2021, Sinha served as the executive special assistant to the FBI director in 2021. She has been leading the Salt Lake City Field Office since July 2023. Before joining the FBI, she worked as a therapist and administrator at a private, not-for-profit clinic.
Sinha holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Purdue University in Indiana.
