Wipro Bonus Issue: Record date this week; Check till when can the stock be bought

Shares of technology bellweather Wipro Ltd. will turn ex-bonus on Tuesday as the company has fixed December 3 as the record date for its bonus issue of shares for its shareholders.

The company had announced a bonus issue of one for one alongside its September quarter earnings. This means that nearly 22 lakh small shareholders of Wipro will be eligible for getting one bonus share for every one share held as on the record date.

This means that shareholders, who have shares of Wipro in their portfolio at the end of Monday's trading session will be eligible to receive the bonus shares.

This is the first instance of Wipro issuing bonus shares after 2019, when the company had issued one bonus share for every three shares held by its shareholders.

Wipro remains the Nifty or Non-Nifty constituent that has issued the most number of bonus shares to its shareholders in its history as a public company. It has issued bonus shares 13 times previously to its shareholders. Wipro has issued bonuses to shareholders in 1971, 1981, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1995, 1997, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2017 and 2019.

Wipro shares ended 1.2% higher on Friday at ₹579. The stock is up 21% so far in 2024 and has risen 7% over the last one month. The stock is also trading close to its recent peak of ₹596.
