India on Friday blocked X accounts of leading Pakistani journalists, including Hamid Mir and Najam Aziz Sethi, as tensions escalated between the two neighbouring countries. India’s move came after Pakistan on Thursday triggered India by attempting to target several areas in Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. However, India successfully retaliated and neutralised the missiles, drones and shelling by Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, social media platform X’s handle, @GlobalAffairs, which recently disclosed that the Indian government had issued blocking orders for 8,000 accounts, was briefly withheld in India on Friday morning.
Earlier on April 30, the Indian government blocked Instagram accounts of several top Pakistani actors, including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir and Sajal Aly. The move was followed by the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
