Mamdani arrived at the White House to hold talks with Trump, after the two exchanged fierce barbs in the past, including Trump calling the New York-elect a "communist".

New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has reached the White House ahead of a high-stakes meeting with US President Donald Trump to push his affordability agenda, after the two leaders exchanged a fierce war of words in the past.

The White House confirmed to the BBC that Mamdani has arrived for his meeting with Trump. “Too late guys! Y’all are too slow!" the White House’s director of communications, Steven Cheung, posted on X.

CBS News also confirmed that Mamdani has arrived at the White House. It’s not yet clear if his meeting with Mr. Trump has begun. Members of the media assembled outside the West Wing did not see Mamdani arrive.

The two New Yorkers repeatedly trade barbs, setting up what could be a tense meeting. Trump frequently calls Mamdani a “communist", while the New York-elect has publicly derided the president’s anti-immigration policies.
