Days after firing fact-checkers from Meta, CEO Mark Zuckerberg was fact checked by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Zuckerberg, according to a report by Forbes, said that he would be replacing Meta’s fact-checkers with “community notes", a feature that is often seen on social media platform X, where a community of users clarify doubts on posts which are supposedly spreading misinformation.

The Meta CEO came under fire after the decision and on Monday got fact checked by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw over spreading misinformation.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed “misinformation" spread by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of social media company Meta, on a podcast with Joe Rogan.

The tech tycoon was on an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, a podcast millions globally listen to, where he claimed that most incumbent governments, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Democratic Alliance (NDA), had lost their positions post-Covid pandemic. “It’s disappointing to see misinformation from Mr. Zuckerberg himself. Let’s uphold facts and credibility", Vaishnaw wrote on X.

“India conducted the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. People of India reaffirmed their trust in NDA led by PM Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership", Vaishnaw said on X (formerly Twitter).

“A lot of people in the US focus on this as an American phenomenon, but I kind of think that the reaction to Covid probably caused a breakdown and trust in a lot of governments around the world, because 2024 was a big election year around the world. And you know there are all these countries India just like a ton of countries that had elections and the incumbents basically lost every single one of them." Zuckerberg said on the podcast.

‘Feminine Energy’

Mark Zuckerberg also received criticism for saying that companies need “more masculine energy" and claiming that the American workplace got “neutered by feminine energy".

“I feel like I just have a much greater command now of what I think the policy should be and this is how it is going to be going forward," he had said.
