Several people were injured after a suspected suicide blast took place at a religious centre in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.

According to the local reports, the blast took place at Tarlai Imambargah in the Shehzad Town area of the federal capital.

Police teams and rescue workers rushed to the spot and began relief operations.

Hospital authorities declared an emergency following the explosion. The injured were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and the Polyclinic Hospital for treatment.
