Abu Qatal Sindhi of Lashkar-e-Taiba, also a key aide of Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed and so-called commander of the Khureta launch pad, has been killed in Pakistan.

Saeed was also critically injured during the shooting, as he was accompanying Qatal at the time of the incident.

Saeed was returning to the Jhelum area in Pakistan, where the shooting happened, after meeting Pakistan Army’s Corps Commander Mangla.

Saeed has been admitted to Military Hospital Rawalpindi, while Qatal was killed in the shootout.

Qatal was involved in multiple attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and was the mastermind of the January 2023 attack in Rajouri in the Union Territory.

Qatal was also responsible for the June 9 attack on a bus carrying pilgrims returning from the Shiv Khori temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district.

According to reports, Qatal was eliminated by an unidentified person in the Dina area of Jhelum, Pakistan.

In February this year, the Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet against three Pakistan-based handlers and two others in a court for the Rajouri terror attack, in which seven people were killed.

The charge sheet was filed against Abu Qatal, Sajit Jutt, and Qasim.

According to the NIA, the three had orchestrated the recruitment and dispatch of LeT terrorists from Pakistan to target innocent civilians, particularly from the minority community in Jammu and Kashmir as well as security personnel.

The attacks were carried out under the directions of these Pakistan-based handlers.
