The United States issued a security alert for its citizens hours after India’s Operation Sindoor targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The US embassy in Pakistan urged Americans to avoid conflict zones, especially near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control (LoC).

The embassy, in a statement released on Wednesday, acknowledged reports of the Indian military action. “This remains an evolving situation, and we are closely monitoring developments," the statement read.

Advisory For US Citizens In Pakistan:

• Leave areas of active conflict/military activity if it is safe to do so.

• If you cannot move, stay indoors and shelter in place.

• Stay alert, carry your ID, and try not to draw attention to yourself.

• Sign up for the Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP) to get updates from the US Embassy.

• Follow the local news and make sure your safety plan is ready.

Meanwhile, Australia asked its citizen to avoid travel to both India and Pakistan. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) updated its Smartraveller advice, saying that India’s missile strikes in Pakistan have “intensified tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours".

The Smartraveller alert now advises Australians to reconsider travel plans to both countries. The website has classified several areas in Pakistan, including parts of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, as “do not travel" zones.

The alert states, “We continue to advise reconsider your need to travel to Pakistan overall. Higher levels apply in some areas." It also warns travelers to avoid large groups, demonstrations, and protests, as they can escalate into violence quickly.

For India, the Smartraveller update warns, “There may be flight disruptions due to airspace and airport closures. Check with your airline before arriving at the airport."

Singapore also issued a travel advisory, urging its citizens to defer all non-essential travel to Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. “Travellers should exercise precaution, especially at the border regions between Pakistan and India," it wrote, urging Singaporeans to remain vigilant and take all precautions.

It also advised Singaporeans in India and Pakistan to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions for personal safety, including avoiding large gatherings, monitoring local news closely, and heeding instructions of local authorities.
