An American Airlines flight, scheduled to operate from Denver Airport (DEN) to Miami (MIA), was grounded before takeoff as the aircraft tyre caught fire. The airlines also confirmed the incident in an official statement, adding that one passenger was also injured.

“All customers and crew deplaned safely, and the aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team," the airline said in a statement. “We thank our team members for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for their experience."

A video of the incident being widely circulated on social media, shows passengers coming out of the plane in hurry via emergency slides. Smoke can be seen arising from the left rear section of the flight.

A total of 173 passengers and six crew members were on board. According to the airline, passengers will be rebooked on a replacement aircraft.

The flight, scheduled to operate from Denver to Miami (MIA), was met by first responders in accordance with safety procedures. One passenger sustained a minor injury and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation
