Anthony Albanese has married his partner of five years, Jodie Haydon, at a ceremony at the prime minister's official residence in Canberra.

Albanese and Haydon met more than five years ago at a public function in Melbourne.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Saturday married his partner, Jodie Haydon, at the official residence in Canberra, becoming the first sitting Australian leader to wed in office.
According to a report in The Guardian, the ceremony took place in the afternoon at the Lodge, attended by close family and friends, including Albanese’s son Nathan and Haydon’s parents, Bill and Pauline. Shortly after the ceremony, the Australian Prime Minister shared the video of him walking down the aisle with his new wife.
The couple were married by a celebrant from the NSW Central Coast and exchanged vows they had written themselves. Haydon was walked down the aisle by her parents to Ben Folds’ “The Luckiest.” She wore a dress by Sydney designer Romance Was Born, while Albanese’s suit was by MJ Bale, the report added.
Haydon’s five-year-old niece served as flower girl and the couple’s dog, Toto, was ring bearer. Witnesses were Haydon’s brother Patrick and Albanese’s cousin Helen Golden.
The wedding, held privately and funded by the couple, followed the final sitting day of the Australian parliament for 2025 and came six months after Albanese’s re-election.
Guests included Treasurer Jim Chalmers, Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Finance Minister Katy Gallagher, ALP Secretary Paul Erickson and the Prime Minister’s chief of staff Tim Gartrell.
After the ceremony, the couple exited to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours),” and shared their first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight”, according to The Guardian report.
Albanese and Haydon met more than five years ago at a public function in Melbourne. Albanese proposed on Valentine’s Day 2024 on the Lodge balcony, presenting a bespoke engagement ring.
Haydon has accompanied him to public events, official trips, and election campaigns and serves as chief patron of the Portrait Gallery in Canberra.
Albanese was previously married to former NSW Deputy Premier Carmel Tebbutt; the couple separated in 2019 after nearly 20 years of marriage.
