Saudi Arabia’s Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC) said that “any armed attack by any party targeting nuclear facilities dedicated to peaceful purposes constitutes a violation of international resolutions." The warning comes as Israel has been targeting several Iranian nuclear sites and military bases since June 13, in what officials in Tel Aviv call a preemptive operation to neutralize Iran’s ballistic and nuclear threat.
Among the sites hit are the Natanz nuclear facility, Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center, Shiraz missile plant and Tabriz North missile base. Iran’s Fordow plant, Kermanshah base, Piranshahr garrison, Dezful airbase, Bid Kaneh military facility and the IRGC Ghadir site in Tehran have also sustained damage, according to satellite images. Several of these sites were considered heavily fortified with underground tunnels and advanced centrifuge operations.
What IAEA Has Said On Israel Attacking Iran’s Nuclear Sites
The Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed extensive damage at the Natanz site, including the destruction of the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant, which had been enriching uranium up to 60%. Although radiation levels outside the facility remain stable, the agency reported chemical and radiological contamination inside.
At Isfahan, four buildings were damaged, including a uranium conversion plant and a fuel manufacturing unit, while Fordow, buried deep near Qom, appears intact for now. The Kermanshah facility and Tabriz missile base show evidence of severe structural damage, especially at underground entrances used for storing missile components.
Russia’s Warning To Israel On Attack On Iran’s Nuclear Sites
Russia warned Israel against striking Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, saying “it will be a catastrophe comparable to Chernobyl". Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry, said that the Kremlin is “particularly concerned about the safety of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which employs Russian specialists."
