The BJP has slammed the Kerala government for extending an invitation to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to the Global Ayyappa Sangamam, slated to be held at Pampa in Pathanamthitta next month, and compared the step to Hitler celebrating Jews.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticised the Pinarayi Vijayan government by pointing to two things — the Left government’s 2018 decision to let women of menstruating age enter the Sabarimala temple after a Supreme Court order, and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement against Sanatana Dharma.

In a post on X, Chandrasekhar said that after years of Pinarayi Vijayan disrespecting Sabarimala traditions, targeting devotees, and jailing many of them, and after M.K. Stalin and his son Udhayanidhi criticised Hindus and the Hindu faith, they are now trying to show devotion to Lord Ayyappa just before the elections.

“INDI alliance parties like Congress, CPI(M) and DMK going to a Sabarimala program is as unreal as Hitler celebrating jews, Rahul Gandhi speaking the truth, Osama bin laden becoming an apostle of peace, Hamas/jamaat Islami respecting people of other faiths, Cong/INDI alliance giving up dynasties and corruption," he wrote on his X handle.

“But people will not be fooled anymore. No one will forget what the INDI alliance said and did to Hindu believers," he added.

His remarks came a day after Devaswom Minister V. N. Vasavan met Stalin in Chennai and invited him to the Global Ayyappa Sangamam, which the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and the Kerala government will host on September 20 at Pampa.

At a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on August 21, Vasavan said that the governments of all neighbouring states, and states from where many Ayyappa pilgrims come, would be invited to the event. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate it.
