Acclaimed British author Neil Gaiman faced new allegations of sexual misconduct and assault, after he faced similar charges against him months ago. Eight women shared allegations of assault, coercion or abuse by Neil Gaiman in a New York Magazine article titled “There Is No Safe Word", including one Scarlett Pavlovich who used to babysit the author’s child.
What are the allegations against Neil Gaiman
Scarlett Pavlovich said that she was close to Neil Gaiman’s ex-wife Amanda Palmer and agreed to babysit their child when she was away. When she met Neil Gaiman, the meeting led to a non-consensual sexual encounter after Neil Gaiman encouraged her to take a bath in their old garden bathtub and joined her later. Neil Gaiman wanted her to call him ‘master’ to which she said, “No, I’m not confident with my body."
Neil Gaiman responded, “It’s okay — it’s only me. Just relax. Just have a chat." as per Scarlett Pavlovich. She also said that Neil Gaiman forcefully penetrated her with his fingers before attempting to do so with his penis. When Neil Gaiman was climaxing, he asked if he could ejaculate on a certain part of Scarlett Pavlovich’s body- which she declined, she said, adding that the author did so anyway.
At the time, Scarlett Pavlovich confided in Amanda Palmer and filed a police report but the case didn’t move forward. She claimed that later she signed an NDA regarding the alleged sexual assault, where he paid her a total of $9,200 over nine months.
As per the report, most of the women Neil Gaiman allegedly abused were in their 20s, with the youngest being 18 years old. Another woman, Kendra Stout, shared that the author “didn’t believe in foreplay or lubrication," and would engage in BDSM although “there was no discussion of ‘safe words’ or ‘aftercare’ or ‘limits.'"
What Neil Gaiman said on the allegations
When reports emerged in 2024, the author and his representatives strongly denied all the allegations. In the case of Kendra Stout, he said that his relationship was never unlawful and on Pavlovich, he said that she had a condition owing to which she had false memories.
