The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has once again claimed responsibility for a deadly attack targeting Pakistani army personnel in Balochistan province. In a statement, the group said that its members carried out a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a vehicle in a Pakistani army convoy, killing five on the spot and seriously wounding three others, including an officer with the rank of Major.
Describing itself as a group of freedom fighters, the BLA claimed that the attack took place in the Harboi area of Kalat on Tuesday.
The BLA’s statement alleged that the Pakistani army, which it describes as an occupying force, had been attempting to advance into Harboi and the surrounding areas since March 24. It claimed that its fighters successfully targeted the convoy, forcing the army to retreat the following day.
The claims of casualties and the alleged retreat have not been independently verified, and no official statement from Pakistani military authorities has been referenced in the BLA’s account.
This marks the third major attack by the BLA since March 10, when Jaffer Express was hijacked, resulting in the deaths of over 100 security personnel and civilians, as claimed by the group. Additionally, a Pakistan Army convoy was attacked in Noshki last week.
