Amid the escalating tensions in Dubai, the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi announced that it will remain closed for the rest of the day as a precautionary measure.
In an official statement, the temple authorities said the decision was taken following national security advisories and the ongoing emergency situation.
“In view of the current emergency and in alignment with national security advisories, the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi will remain closed for the rest of the day as a precautionary measure. The safety and well-being of all remain our highest priority."
The statement also expressed hopes for peace and said the temple is following official guidance.
“We sincerely pray for greater understanding and peace as we follow the guidance of relevant authorities. Further updates will be shared as appropriate."
This comes hours after explosions were heard in parts of Dubai after Israel and the US launched strikes on Iran on Saturday.
One person was also killed after the UAE intercepted missiles fired by Iran.
Several social media users shared visuals of explosions in Dubai.
Even in neighbouring Saudi Arabia, several explosions were heard across the capital, Riyadh, AFP reported.
In view of the tense situation, the UAE temporarily closed its airspace.
The UAE’s Ministry of Defence said the country had been targeted in what it described as a “blatant attack" involving Iranian ballistic missiles.
