As the Bihar election battle intensifies, “mummy papa" have entered the campaign fray.
At a session moderated by anchor Amish Devgan at News18 India’s ‘Sabse Bada Dangal Bihar’, the AIMIM launched an attack yet on the Congress.
AIMIM’s Waris Pathan, while targeting Congress spokesperson Abhay Dubey, said that if Congress’s Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav were truly secular, they would have formed an alliance with us, but these people have no concern for secular voters.
Pathan, while satirising the Congress and RJD, said, “When these people of the Maha Thugbandhan lose, they will shout, “Pappa took away my chocolate, mummy took away my chocolate."
Dubey strongly objected to this statement, after which the debate became even more heated.
Dubey accused the AIMIM of being the NDA’s ‘B-team’, saying that the AIMIM’s sole aim is to divide secular votes.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Ajay Alok said that until now, they have supported the opposition. “Rahul Gandhi is not a leader of the people, nor is Tejashwi a hero. If they are heroes, they are heroes of those opposed to the nation."
Pathan alleged that Muslim leaders have been neglected by every party. No Muslim leader has been appointed Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister.
On the 20-year rule in Bihar, Alok said they have ensured development, given homes, brought electricity and now “Bihar is ready to take the next leap".
Alok also attacked Gandhi for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Chhath Puja celebrations.
“This man who claims votes are stolen, his name is Rahul Gandhi. This man’s brain has been stolen…What this man said is, if Narendra Modi is asked to dance, he will dance. Yes, if the public asks him to, Narendra Modi will dance. He has been dancing for the last 22 years. In the country and Gujarat, he has shown it by taking it forward. He is not sitting at home or in Italy like them."
Alok said Gandhi had insulted Chhath Puja and he should apologise. “Rahul Gandhi claims that wherever PM Modi went, there was no Yamuna. He claims the PM went into his swimming pool. I want to ask, don’t people celebrate Chhath Puja in ponds? Don’t they celebrate Chhath Puja at home? Don’t they celebrate Chhath Puja in small buckets? Puja is performed with emotion and devotion," he said.
