Shares of BSE Ltd. (formerly Bombay Stock Exchange) will be in focus on Thursday, August 20, after the exchange announced an agreement with MSCI covering a number of its indexes.
Under the agreement, BSE will explore the launch of futures and options contracts in India linked to MSCI indexes, subject to regulatory approvals.
BSE said the strategic move will further strengthen its role in the development of India's capital markets. The exchange said that the growing amount of capital benchmarked against indexes, along with increased trading of index-based products through ETFs, has created a growing need for futures and options.
Index-linked derivatives can help fund managers facilitate fund flows and manage their equity exposure.
MSCI indexes are among the world's most widely tracked benchmarks, with more than $21 trillion in assets under management linked to them as of December 31, 2025.
BSE Managing Director and CEO Sundararaman Ramamurthy said the move will enhance India's market accessibility by providing investors with an additional avenue to access and hedge their exposure to the Indian market.
BSE, established in 1875, is Asia's oldest stock exchange and among the world's largest exchanges by the number of listed companies.
BSE shares settled 1.18% higher at ₹3,347 on Wednesday. The stock has gained more than 27% so far in 2026.
