Bull****: Trump aide Navarro fumes at X fact-checks after attacks on India fail

The White House trade adviser has now turned on X over its community notes, accusing the platform of foreign interference, while X repeatedly fact-checked him, stressing that India's energy trade is legal and sovereign.

“India has been in a Cold War — and sometimes a Hot War — with China for decades,” Navarro noted.

After weeks of ranting against India’s trade ties with Russia, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro has now turned his attack to X, targeting the platform itself and calling it "bull****."

He shared a screengrab of one of his previous posts, questioning X’s role in presenting context and alleging that the platform was allowing foreign interference in domestic US discussions.

He then added a poll, asking: "On earlier post, you can see Indian special interests trying to interfere with domestic dialogue with lies about India buying Russian oil. Should X present this crap as comments from 'diverse viewpoints'?"

X responded by fact-checking both of his posts, reaffirming that Navarro’s claims were misleading.

Following twice being fact-checked by X Navarro wrote, "More bull*** from X. Fact: India didn't buy Russian oil in large quantities before Russia invaded Ukraine. It's blood money and people are dying."

NAVARRO’S RANT AGAINST INDIA

Navarro has repeatedly attacked India over its energy trade. On Saturday, Navarro accused India of profiting from Russian oil imports and claiming that its trade policies were harming both the US and the conflict in Ukraine.

Hours later, X intervened with a community note, pointing out that India’s purchases were legal, aimed at energy security, and did not violate sanctions. It also stressed what it called a US "double standard," noting that the United States continues to import certain commodities from Russia, including uranium and minerals.

"India's Russian oil purchases are for energy security, not just profit, and don't violate sanctions. While India has some tariffs, the US has a trade surplus with it in services. The US also continues to import certain commodities from Russia which is hypocritical," the note stated.

NAVARRO BLASTS MUSK

Enraged by the fact-check, Navarro targeted Musk directly, writing, "Wow. Elon Musk is letting propaganda into people's posts. That crap note below is just that. Crap. India buys Russia oil solely to profiteer. It didn't buy any before Russia invaded Ukraine. Indian government spin machine moving high tilt. Stop killing Ukrainians. Stop taking American jobs."

X fact-checked him again, reiterating that India’s energy trade is a sovereign decision and within international law. "Navarro's claims are hypocritical. India's legal, sovereign purchases of Russian oil for energy security do not violate international law. The US, while pressuring India, continues to import billions in Russian goods, like uranium, exposing a clear double standard," the platform noted.

Navarro's latest stunt follows as Trump himself softened his tone, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "friend" and stressing that India-US relations are "special," Navarro continues his attacking tone, showing no signs of easing his rhetoric.

He has previously called India the "Maharaja of tariffs," labelled it a "laundromat for the Kremlin," and controversially referred to the Ukraine conflict as "Modi’s war."

In one of his most inflammatory remarks, he stated: "Brahmins are profiteering at the expense of Indian people."

The Indian government firmly rejected the claim. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have seen some inaccurate statements made by him. We reject them."
