The Canadian Prime Minister arrived in Mumbai to kickstart his first official to visit to India from February 27 to March 2, which are focused on restoring bilateral ties.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney reached Mumbai on his first official visit to India since assuming the top post as part of Ottawa’s efforts to restore bilateral ties with India. The Canadian Prime Minister will be in India from February 27 to March 2, 2026.
“A warm welcome to Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada as he arrives in Mumbai on his first Official Visit to India. The visit marks a significant step in further strengthening India–Canada ties," said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

Carney was received by Jaykumar Rawal, Minister of Protocol and Marketing. “The India–Canada partnership is anchored in shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, and expanding cooperation across diverse sectors," Jaiswal said.
According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Carney’s tour, scheduled from February 26 to March 7, 2026, will include visits to India, Australia and Japan, with a focus on strengthening trade, investment and strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.
Carney’s discussions in India are expected to centre on expanding bilateral cooperation across key sectors including “trade, clean energy, technology and artificial intelligence, talent mobility, culture, and defence."
