After winning a months-long, high-stakes race to succeed Justin Trudeau as Canada’s Prime Minister, Mark Carney strongly stated his position on the US, declaring that he would never allow Ottawa to be “part of America in any way."
The 59-year-old political outsider, who has served as the governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England, won the leadership race for Canada’s Liberal Party with 86 per cent votes, defeating former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.
