Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day official visit to the United Kingdom ended on Thursday. The visit turned out to be ‘productive’ as a landmark Free Trade Agreement between India and the UK was signed. Other than the diplomatic developments, light moments like PM Modi enjoying tea are going viral.

The Indian-origin man who served tea to the PMs is the highlight of the moment. The entrepreneur, Akhil Patel, founded his company a few years after graduating from the London School of Economics. He started Amala Chai.

PM Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer held an interaction at Chequers, the country residence of British Prime Minister. Modi termed it ‘Chai Pe Charcha’. Sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “Chai Pe Charcha with PM Keir Starmer at Chequers…brewing stronger India-UK ties," alongside a few photographs capturing the moment both leaders waited for their tea to be served.

Who Is Akhil Patel?

As per the LinkedIn bio, Patel studied at the University College School in Hampstead, London. Then he pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

As a student, he completed internships at various organisations before taking up a job as a data analyst after graduating. In 2019, he shifted career domain and founded Amala chai. He was inspired by his grandma to set up this start-up.

PM described the UK trip as “very important" trip that will benefit future generations and boost shared growth and prosperity between the two nations.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said, “Concluding a very important UK visit. The outcomes of this visit will benefit our future generations and contribute to shared growth and prosperity.
