China issued a risk alert for citizens traveling to the US amid the ongoing tariff tension between Washington and Beijing, as per a statement from the culture and tourism ministry.

Chinese tourists were asked to assess the risks of traveling to the US and travel with caution, citing recent “deterioration of China-US economic and trade relations and the domestic security situation in the US", the ministry said.

“In light of worsening China–US trade relations and security concerns in America, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism advises Chinese citizens to carefully assess the risks of traveling to the United States and proceed with caution," the ministry said.

China’s Ministry of Education also warned the country’s students about assessing security risks related to studying in “certain US states."

This comes as US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on his reciprocal tariff plans for countries, except China. The Trump administration imposed a sweeping 125% tariff on all goods imported from China in retaliation for Beijing’s 84% tariffs on all American goods.
