CleanMax shares in focus after bagging a ₹100 crore investment from Apple for clean energy initiatives

The shares of CleanMax will be in focus in today's trade after Apple announced a series of clean energy and environmental initiatives in India, including an initial investment of ₹100 crore to support the development of more than 150 megawatts of renewable energy capacity in partnership with renewable energy developer CleanMax.

The iPhone maker said the renewable energy projects are expected to generate enough electricity to power an average of 150,000 Indian households annually and are aimed at expanding renewable energy adoption across Apple’s supply chain in India.

“At Apple, our commitment to the environment is also a driving force for innovation — across the company and around the world,” Sarah Chandler, Apple’s vice president of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation, said in a statement. “We’re proud to expand our efforts to invest in India’s clean energy economy and protect the country’s precious natural resources.”

Apple said it had previously worked with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects powering its offices and retail stores in India with 100% renewable energy.
Alongside the clean energy push, Apple announced partnerships with WWF-India and Acumen focused on plastic waste management and green entrepreneurship.

Under the collaboration with WWF-India, Apple said it would support recycling and waste-management initiatives designed to improve collection, sorting and recovery of recyclable materials while preventing plastic leakage into ecosystems. The programme, which builds on existing work in Goa with Saahas Zero Waste, will also expand to regions including Coimbatore in partnership with local authorities and waste workers.

Apple also said it would back six early-stage green enterprises through a partnership with Acumen, offering catalytic grants, mentorship and technical assistance for businesses working in waste management, circular economy solutions and regenerative agriculture.

The company cited examples of enterprises previously supported through Acumen programmes, including Saptkrishi, which develops low-cost farm storage solutions; Yotuh Energy, which builds electric refrigerated trucks, and Mowo Fleet, which supports women-led electric vehicle driving businesses.

The initiatives are part of Apple’s broader goal of becoming carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030. The company said it has reduced global greenhouse gas emissions by more than 60% compared with 2015 levels, while revenue rose 78% over the same period.

The shares of CleanMax closed in the green on Wednesday after the company's stocks rose in value by close to 3%. In the past 3 months of trade, the company's shares have seen a spike in value amounting to 35%. The current price stands at ₹1179 per share.
