President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a Constitution Day event on Tuesday marking 75 years of the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949.
They will also address the nation during the event that will take place at the Central Hall of the old Parliament Building, now known as Samvidhan Sadan. A commemorative coin and a stamp will also be released during the event, besides copies of the Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili.
“The preamble would be read by all Bharatiya across the globe with the President. Mass preamble readings in panchayats, Amrit Sarovar sites in rural areas are likely to be held," officials said.
Constitution Day Event Likely To Be Flashpoint Between Govt & Opposition
Tomorrow’s Constitution Day event is likely to turn into another point of contention between the government and the Opposition as the floor leaders of the INDIA bloc wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking an invitation to the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to address the special event besides the Prime Minister.
“When the Prime Minister is asked to speak why not LoPs?," sources in the Opposition said.
Notably, President Murmu, Vice President Dhankhar, and PM Modi are scheduled to address the nation on the occasion, however, no such invitation has been extended to the LoPs so far.
