 Stock jumps over 8% to 52-week high on strong operating performance

Shares of Craftsman Automation Ltd. surged as much as 8% on Thursday, May 7, in response to its March quarter results that were better than the same quarter last year. The stock now trades at a 52-week high.


The Quarter Gone By

Revenue for the quarter increased by 27.3% from last year to ₹2,226 crore, while Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) for the quarter increased by 47.2% year-on-year to ₹358.5 crore from ₹243.6 crore.

EBITDA margin expanded by over 200 basis points to 16.1% from 13.9% last year, while net profit grew by 74.4% year-on-year to ₹116.4 crore from ₹66.8 crore during the year-ago period. The base quarter had an exceptional item of ₹10 crore, which was down to ₹54 lakh this time around. Profitability was also aided by a jump in the other income component from last year.

All three business segments grew between 20% to 30% during the quarter.

How Did The Business Segments Fare

The Aluminium Products segment saw revenue growth of 30.3% year-on-year to ₹1,310.07 crores from ₹1,005.53 crores, making it the largest revenue contributor to the overall business. EBIT increased by 51% for this segment to ₹133.8 crore from ₹88.5 crore earlier.

The Powertrain segment posted revenue of ₹607.94 crores, up 20% from ₹506.53 crores, with EBIT rising to ₹116.77 crores from ₹66.71 crores, a near-75% improvement, signaling strong demand from the automotive drivetrain space.

The Industrial & Engineering segment grew 30% year-on-year in revenue terms to ₹308.4 crores from ₹237.19 crores, though segment EBIT was comparatively modest at ₹18.76 crores.

Dividend & Stock Reaction

The board recommended a final dividend of ₹11.25 per share, representing 225% of face value, for FY26.
