Chirag Paswan, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief, on Monday hit out at his ally Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the law and order situation in the state.

He said that the murder of 16-year-old Himanshu Paswan and 20-year-old Anu Kumar in Nalanda’s Biharsharif is “unfortunate and condemnable", adding that this heinous event shows that law and order in Bihar have completely collapsed.

He said that the incident was carried out in the district of CM Kumar, who also holds the home department portfolio, indicating that the morale of criminals is high.

“Crime in the state is at its peak, and the fact that such an incident was carried out by criminals in the home district of the honorable Chief Minister clearly indicates that the morale of criminals is at its highest," he said in a post on X.

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is a junior NDA partner in the state.

Earlier on Sunday, Paswan expressed concern over the law and order situation in Bihar after BJP leader and businessman, Gopal Khemka, was shot dead outside his residence in Patna on Friday night.

“Just 100 meters away from where the police station is and where officials’ residences are located. If such an incident is happening here, just imagine what must be happening in villages and rural areas? If even a single murder occurs in Bihar, it should be a matter of concern for the government and administration. We need to identify where the mistake happened, rectify it, and take the strictest possible action to set an example so that such incidents do not happen in the future," he said.

Paswan has intensified his attacks on Nitish Kumar after announcing that his party will contest all 243 seats in Bihar. The 42-year-old also announced that he would contest the polls.

“I want to take Bihar to new heights. I visualise a future in which our boys and girls will not need to go outside in search of greener pastures; rather, people from other states will come here in search of better education and employment opportunities," said Paswan at a rally in Saran district on July 6.
