Deemed Illegal By Court, US Customs To Stop Collecting Trump Tariffs From Tomorrow

All tariffs imposed on US trading partners under the IEEPA framework will cease from February 24.

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has said it will stop collecting duties imposed under the Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) from 12:01 am EST (0501 GMT) on Tuesday, February 24. The duties had been deemed illegal by the Supreme Court last week.

On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump’s “reciprocal" tariffs were illegal. However, despite the decision, US importers were still paying duties on goods entering the country. This was because the CBP had not yet updated its Cargo System Management Service to remove the duties imposed under the IEEPA.

In a statement on govdelivery.com, the CBP said, “Duties imposed pursuant to IEEPA under the following presidential actions, including all modifications and amendments, will no longer be in effect and will no longer be collected for goods entered for consumption or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:00 a.m. eastern time on February 24, 2026."

This means all tariffs imposed on US trading partners under the IEEPA framework will cease from February 24. This includes duties imposed on countries such as India over the purchase of Russian oil.
