Delhi Election News 2025 Live Updates: With just over a week to go for the high-stakes Assembly elections in the national capital, the political battle between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to intensify as former CM Arvind Kejriwal made another bombshell allegation over Yamuna.
In yet another political storm, Delhi CM Atishi accused the ruling BJP in Haryana of “intentionally” draining industrial waste into the Yamuna that supplies water to the national capital, after which Kejriwal alleged that the saffron party is trying to kill people by mixing “poison” in the river.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini refuted the claims and said it is an old habit of AAP leaders to blame others and run away. Saini further said that Kejriwal should apologise to the public or else he would file a defamation case against him over the fraudulent remarks.
Hitting back at AAP and Kejriwal, BJP leader and Delhi MLA Vijender Gupta accused the former Delhi CM of misleading the people. The Rohini MLA also accused the AAP supremo of “promoting anarchy”. The BJP leader said that Kejriwal was setting a “false narrative” and using it as a diversionary tactic in order to evade questions on the vandalisation of Ambedkar’s statue in Punjab.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) also refuted Kejriwal’s claims, calling them factually wrong and without any basis. “The matter is being brought to your attention, given the fact that such false statements lead to fear-mongering amongst city residents and also adversely impact relations with the upper riparian state of Haryana,” said DJB CEO Shilpa Shinde.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has requested an appointment with the Chief Election Commissioner. Citing the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board, Atishi highlighted that the ammonia levels in the Yamuna have increased sevenfold.
“Ammonia levels continue to be 6 times above normal in Yamuna waters, at the point it is entering Delhi from Haryana. Such levels are extremely toxic for the human body. This water cannot be treated and supplied to people of Delhi. Otherwise their lives will be at risk,: she wrote.

“I can say that this poisonous statement given by Kejriwal on water is definitely shaking the mind of every person in Delhi that to what extent politics is going and this is a question of Delhi’s honour… Such cheap things are being said as part of a deep conspiracy to hide their defeat,” he added.

“If a common man alleges the govt of genocide, he will be in jail the very next day. I am surprised that why no action is being taken against him by Haryana Police or Delhi Police. Where is the election commission? I think either there is an internal alliance between both the parties (AAP and BJP) or these institutions aren’t worried about such issues, even if people get panicked,” he added.
